Is there a difference in the frames from a shortbed 1956 GMC truck compared to a 1958 Shortbed Chevrolet truck?

Thanks

6 or 8 cylinder? The GMC six was a couple of inches longer than the Chevy, so the front crossmember will have different engine mount holes, and the V8 GMC's used Pontiac engines, so the motor mount holes and/or crossmember positions might be a little different.

The GMC already has Chevrolet 350 in it. OK, now my next question. Will the body parts (bed, cab and front fenders, inner fenders, core support) from a Chevy fit on a GMC frame?

Hy kcode, as far as I know the front end sheet metal is longer on 1958 models and therefore the 1958 frames are longer in the front. I believe there might be a difference in the hood hinges between the 1956 and 1958 model years as well, hope that helps.

everything except the core support from 56 Chev will mount on the 58 GMC frame, but here's a 55-57 front clip on a 58 frame, chalk mark is how much needs to be removed to mount the bumper properly [after re-drilling holes] because of the extra length 3B mentions - the core support can probably be rigged is you have the Chev frame to rob the mounts from
