I have a friend who has a '51 3100. It has push button exterior door handles and vent windows. Please refresh my memory as to what year did they start push button door handles and which year did they start vent windows.

Thanks
Craig

To confirm he truly has a 1951, use the VIN BUSTER All 1951 trucks had the first year vent windows and flip handles, 1952 was the first year for push button handles. Does it have the 1947/51 80 MPH speedometer or the 1952/53 90MPH?

George,
It has the correct 80 speedo. As far as a vin#, the title states it as being a serial number which is:

CA 49xXXxXX

So, is it possible that the PO had put '52 doors on the rig?

Any 47-55 door could be used with any 47-55 cab (as long as door-year-matching latches/catches are used).

What are all the letters/digits in the ID?

CA 49 looks like a CA re-title code? It does not look like a 1951 code?

Tim,
On the driver's A pillar, riveted vertically in the usual spot. Sorry but my friend is hesitant in giving all the numbers but as I said earlier the only letters are at the beginning being CA, space and then numbers. The plate has a Calif state logo in the background, so yes it seems to be a re-title from the state.

CA 49xXXxXX
