The exhaust pipe on my truck is 1 1/4" I.D., which looks and seems right to me, but then I've never gone around measuring exhaust pipes. The reason I'm bringing this up is I've had several people tell me its too small, I'll have back pressure issues, etc. But these have been V8 people, and it seems that if my memory is any good, those old low compression sixes all had small exhausts. Can anyone back me up or enlighten me if I'm mistaken? (That's happened too!!) John

Thanks for the link. I think I'm OK. It's probably 1 1/2 ID, but I was measuring in the dark. I just don't remember big tailpipes on these trucks when I was a kid and they were closer to eye level to me. John

That looks like the manifold end, I was talking about the tailpipe. I still think I'm good. Truck runs and sounds good.

My truck: 1954 3600
I have a GM NOS TAILPIPE
GM # 3.705 - GM # 3696161

The tailpipe is 100% GM # correct
for my truck.
It is number stamped
on the tailpipe.
Tailpipe fits perfect
on the correct GM NOS muffler
that I have
GM # 3.701 - GM # 3693710 .

I.D. measurement of the
tailpipe is: 1.825 "

Your 1 & 1/2 " tailpipe @ 1.500 "
is quite a bit smaller than
the original pipe.

I think this info answers your question.
