My ratty 1939 truck that I bought last year is luckily almost entirely complete. I say luckily because I'm learning really quickly that parts are very expensive for them. One of the only things I'm missing is a front bumper. I found a rusty but otherwise decent one for $300, and I just really don't have that much to spend on such a thing right now. It got me thinking, however, that the truck is ancient and ratty looking, almost scary in a way, and I suddenly wondered what alternatives to the stock front bumper you guys have seen that might be cool. Anybody have any pictures of a '37-'40 truck like mine with anything interesting, like an old cow pusher mounted to the front? Post pics if you've got them, please! I'm curious to see what's been done. I can probably fabricate something myself if I have a good idea of where to start.

Thanks.

Here's an example, by the way. It's not necessarily interesting, but it's certainly easy enough to make.

Here's an image of a truck like mine with a different bumper photoshopped on. I kind of love it, but I'm not sure what you all would think.

make up a 'push bumper', piece of large aluminum channel [4-6"] with a slab of wood [2 or 3" x6 or 8"] bolted on it - if you can find a slab that still has bark edges, all the better

I've thought of using a plank of wood too. Very farm truck-esque.

This isn't exactly what I'm looking for, but the overriders are cool.
