Getting ready to install the radiator on the front clip to the frame and did not take pictures when I took everything apart. I have the radiator frame and the front clip minus the radiator together ready to attach to the frame. How do the springs and bolts go together? I know the radiator attaches to the radiator frame that is attached to the front clip. The question is do the springs go between the radiator and the radiator frame or do the springs go between the radiator frame with front clip of the body frame? I do know that there are bolts,springs and rubber and don't know in what order everything is attached.
Pictures and or instructions would be appreciated.

Knowing what truck we're being quizzed on helps, too.

rubber [anti-squeak] on truck frame, core support [your "radiator frame"] on rubber, springs go on the bolts that hold the core support to the frame so there's some allowance for movement - radiator mounted to the core support afterwards with the 3 [4?] bolts on each side

Mine's in the paint shop. Would one of you mind sending me the finned area dimensions? I know its roughly 16 w x 28 h but I need to be exact.

Trying to order fans and need to know how big an area I have to play with , thanks.

I can get you measurements this weekend. I go into work early and get home late.It will probably be Sunday as the family is celebrating family members that have Birthdays in Nov this Sat
as the rest of the weekends in Nov are planned out. I think I have a fan off a 216 that should fit unless you have changed something!

Thanks but the only NOT changed is the radiator. I'm going with electric pusher/s since I'll now have a/c coil and trans cooler up front, and very little space between the more modern 250 and the stock radiator.

I have a 235 mounted on the frame and the fan that is attached is a 18" fin end to fin end and I did not have any issues with the fan turning and hitting anything before I took the front clip off to get it painted.I can not give you measurements from the fan mounted on the engine to the radiator as I do not have the front clip with the radiator mounted to the frame yet. I do not know if this helps?

I am looking for the spring dimensions referenced above. I've checked all usual catalogs (JC, Cof40's,FS and Bowtie Bits) and didn't find them listed. The Chevrolet parts manuals (29-42, 29-48 and 29-50 I have don't list the info either. Also checked was the 1946 Truck Data Book and I didn't find the part referenced. I may have missed finding the info though. So, I guess I need to try to find the springs at a hardware store???? Any ideas will be appreciated.

I am getting parts gathered so I can install the rad in the coming days.

Radiator Support Springs

Radiator Mounting 1946 Chevy 1/2 ton P U
This is a list of what you will need & installation procedure:

Heavy Springs (2) 1 1/8” wide X 1 1/8” tall. Spring is 1/8” steel

Rubber Support Pads (2) http://www.oldchevytrucks.com/cart/index.asp?sdes=FPF102
Hex Head Bolts 3/8" X 3" (2)
Washers 3/8" X 1 1/4 diameter (6)
Lock washers 3/8" (2)

Place bolt with washer through radiator support frame
DO BOTH BOLTS AT SAME TIME
Under support frame place both rubber pads on bolt
Next place bolts through frame
Next install 1st washer (regular 3/8" washer)
Next install spring
Next install 2nd washer (regular 3/8" washer)
Next install lock washer
Next install nut and lock nut & tighten to secure radiator mounting frame to chassis
There are 4 small bolts (1/4" X 3/4") that bolt the top of the radiator support
rod to the "bull nose" plate.

Lots of good info here. I have a '40 Chev and there were none on it. I'm guessing I should have the same as 41-46. Anyone know what the spring rate is on these? With that and what's here maybe we could find a suitable replacement from McMaster-Carr. Just a quick look shows similar dimensions but the spring rate varies quite a bit.
