Did the '55 2nd series trucks have data plates or something similar indicating color codes/schemes (solid or two tone) or options?
Large blue plate only indicates GVW rating.
The manual from the heritage center refers to RPO#s that give details on color options, but it does not indicate where to find them on the truck.

Andy | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | Andy, you won't find any info on the truck for trim and color codes, some years there was a separate tag with spaces for them but they were mostly not stamped so it's a detective job, the RPO's were on the original spec sheet, but if you look at hidden areas, you might find traces of original color - like where the inner fenders lay on top the fender flanges, under the headlight bucket flanges, etc - 2 tones were mostly white roof over whatever color

I thought that was the case, but I thought I'd ask. This truck is very, very original, so it should be pretty easy to figure out. The white you are referring to is probably the "Bombay Ivory" I was reading about in the heritage center. I think it is inside the cab and on the roof. The rest is one of the two blue colors that were available.

I'll post this weekend scans of 1955-2nd color interior/exterior information from the Chevrolet Truck Data Books (early August 1955 and late August 1955). Included will be nice GM color chips for all two-tone exterior options (late August 1955).
Arabian Ivory is not listed/shown in 1955-2nd. Bombay Ivory and Pure White are shown.
The early issue of the 1956 Truck Data Book (15 November 1955) shows Arabian Ivory, Bombay Ivory, and Pure White. I'll also post scans of that information and color chips.
