I've ordered duel set-up for my 235 from Tom L. Going to order intake manifold tomorrow , Tom likes Offenhauser which has to b welded the plugs, I've read pages of these manifold , what I can't find is .
#1 does the fenton have to have the plugs welded ?
#2 I've got williams headers (knock off of fentons ) I read where theres a lot of grinding with Off. intake & Fentons headers . does the same grinding take place with Fenton to Fenton ....

Fenton intake and Fenton headers combination needs no adaptations.

I had to grind the Fenton headers and the Offenhauser intake (used in combination).

Fenton headers need to have no plugs welded; however, there is a hole in each header which needs to be plugged if you will not be using exhaust gas to heat the intake (pipe plugs work).

Your next question is if/how the intake needs/gets heated. Those two topics result in confusing and interesting discussions/opinions/mythologies (similar to "is there a god" and "what is the one and true religion").

The only minor "problem" that I had with the Fenton/Fenton combination was my three-speed transmission shifter arms rubbed against the intake (1954 shifters - the 1947-53 shifter arms might be different). I was able to adjust-away the rubbing.

Tim , I've got 4 speed floor shift so that will be no pro .
what I would really like is a set of old Fentons Headers with the heat riser built in , I've seen one pic of these they must be very rare ,for now I'll settle with Toms coolent system....

I'm running Fenton headers and my engine pipe touches the steering box. Need to see my muffler man and correct that!
