The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop TS paint for frame?

Thinking of putting Tractor Supply Paint (It think it is Majic) on my 3600 frame. It will be a summer runner.

I blasted and painted 8 winter rims for my drivers back in September with TS flat black - it has held up very well through a pretty brutal winter - including lots of ice, slush, etc.. I used hardner and cut it with enamel reducer.

The frame has been blasted and painted a few years before with red Rustoleum primer and flat black and small rust "pimples" - maybe more of a very light rash - were breaking through even though the frame was in storage. I've stripped most of it off and will give the frame a light blast before painting.

Any thoughts appreciated. I could go to epoxy primer and PPG Omni but I wonder if it worth the trouble.

Farm implement paints are oil based alkyd types of paint. The glossy paints can chalk up quickly in the sun and aren't always that durable - not sure about Majic as each company has their own proprietary formulas. That being said, if that is good for you go for it. Sounds like it has worked well for you already.

I have done several frames this way for the neighbor. Easy to repair too.

depending on what you want as far as looks. i painted my 35 frame with rustolum hammertone black . it is easy to touchup and looks good to me. and has held up good over the past several years. $12 per qt. you can brush it or spray it [looks the same]
