Hey guys, I was wondering if any of y'all knew of a good place to find locking door handles for 57 chevy 6500. I would think it is the same handles as any of the 57 chevy trucks but I thought I'd get a second opinion. Thank you much.

When I built my '56 3100 I used two driver's side locks in the stock door handles, turning the one on the passenger's side upside down so it would work with the internal door hardware. Then I had ignition and door locks matched to use the same key. Hope this answers your question.

Oh that's actually a pretty good idea. Where did you end up finding the lock button for the handle?

It's been 10 years since I did the build and I can't locate the info in my receipts.

However, this is the info on a complete lock set from Eckler's. They seem to be pretty proud of their stuff but this seems to be reasonable. It might save you a lot of time and trouble matching locks.

You might check with our website sponsor or any of the usual sources if you would like to shop around or are looking for only the one lock.

Indy, the single lock has been hashed here a lot, nobody has any documented reason for it .... why did the trucks only have one lock long after the cars had 2? why is the gas filler on the pass side of the older trucks? why did they change the filler to the driver side with the TF trucks? .... just cuz wink
