Does anyone know where to get new dust caps for the front wheel bearing hubs on a '57 3/4 ton? I think that they are the same dust caps for 3/4 and one tons from '47 through '59.

The diameter of the part that goes into the hub measures at 2.305".

I know this sounds like a silly request, but I can't find them anywhere...auto parts places, trailer places, etrailer, etc.

On my internet search, I found that others had the problem and found a solution with dust caps available as replacements for a folding utility trailer at Harbor Freight. The part number is 93833. It is listed as a 2.305" replacement on the HF website. When I went to my local HF store, it was obvious that the hub on the display trailer was much smaller than what is on my truck and the replacement dust caps are, too. The 2.305" spec on their website is not accurate. Maybe older versions of this trailer had different hubs?

Anyone had any luck finding these? Mine work, but are pretty beat up. I have found spares at salvage yards, but they are not in any better shape than mine.

Thanks,

Maybellene

Bruce and George, thank you. Bruce, I don't have the screw in type like in your picture. George, the ones you show look exactly like what I am looking for. Guys, thanks for the help.

George, I bought the last one from both Chicago Auto Parts and Friesens Chevrolet. Thanks again for the lead.

Two tips I learned from the internet that I thought were worth posting about installing these dust caps. First, put the dust caps into the freezer for an hour or so before installing. This temporarily shrinks them a tiny amount and makes them easier to install. Second, tap them into place with a 2" PVC pipe end cap fitting. The PVC fitting fits over the dust cap and catches the lip. By tapping on the PVC fitting instead of directly on the dust cap, you avoid denting the dust caps.

I bought 2.33" dust caps from championtrailers.com before I posted looking for help. They would not fit...just a touch too large. They look like the exact same ones listed on the pacifictrailers.com website listed above. Close, but no cigar...at least for my truck.
