on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 396 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2005 Posts: 396 | Does anyone have any plans or pictures of their rear bumper set up which would incorporate a receiver hitch on a 1 ton. I just smashed beyond recognition one of the tin foil foreign versions out there. I am thinking diamond plate wrap around design that could be used for something besides looking at. I do not store my spare under bed. Thanks, Jerry Jerry

I am NOT interested in spending another $150 for that foreign junk and see that J.C. has stainless priced at $375.00 I do not know if they are heavier? That price is kind of steep and that much money spent would go a long way toward designing a bumper for the back that is for more than looking at! After all, these are work trucks. Jerry

Around here in Farm Country where a lot of the 1 tons are found, All I have located have a home made set up ugly as sin but strong enough to pull a tank out of a mud hole.I have been made aware of Rock Auto Antique Auto Parts in Rock Valley Illinois who make the heavier stainless steel front and rear bumper like the originals but I don't want to mortgage the farm to own one . The Jeep bumper looks interesting , does anyone have the frame width measurements so a person can design around whats available? As always, Thanks for the ideas. Jerry

For finding an original 1 ton heavy front bumper you can find them if you look. I wasn't really looking and somehow ended up with two, I guess one for the back if I decide I like the look.
Remember the 1 ton AD pickup didn't have any rear bumper from the factory. I'm unsure if it was an option but think so because I seem to remember a set of brackets in my parts collection... I forget the details. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2008 Posts: 1,775 | I was looking at the spec sheets, seems as though the 3600 and 3800 trucks used the same rear bumper. Makes sense, considering their frame is the same width.
Maybe get a re-pop from LMC and mount a square tube receiver underneath, since you'll be towing. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 224 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2011 Posts: 224 | Whitedog is right about the rear bumpers being the same for 3600 and 3800 models. At least that's what they used on the 3800 panel trucks. The rear bumper is molded different from the front bumper.
I ordered the chrome plated rear bumper. Plenty thick, half the price of SS from Jim Carter.

Its nothing more than something to look at and at a distance at that. Good luck with yours. Jerry Jerry

I have the same tin foil one as you have. Ive been thinking of either a 3x8 or 4x8 piece of square tube, something HEAVY to weigh it down when it snows, and secondly something that I can plant my foot on top of and not worrying about sliding sideways on an "edge."
Also I was looking to get rid of the C-channel extensions since mine are all hacked up and install 2 newer C-channel extensions that bolt into the frame

So much so that I've sketched a front bumper design similar to it. I'm going to transfer it to a CAD drawing. I'm thinking of a winch mount or a hidden hitch mount behind the license plate would be cool. Not to mention a couple of fog light holes.
Pre-Runner Stovebolt anyone? | | |
