I have a SC title from 1977 for my '42 1/2 ton. Number is BD1097214BK081316. It was also registered in GA with the same vin in 1989. It looks like two separate vins to me but can't get anything on either BD1097214 or BK081316. Comments?

BK = early 42 1/2T, might be "14BK081316" and the first part may be the engine number, with some bureaucrats garbling in the past

Vehicle Serial Number: 14BK is the preface for 1942 Light Delivery, Light Commercial Truck assembled in Baltimore, MD

Engine Serial Number: BD is the preface for a regular 216.5 engine on a 1942 Light Delivery, Light Commercial Truck

Over the years, it looks like some DMV decided to concatenate both codes/serial-numbers?

The locations of those serial numbers on the vehicle and on the engine are shown at that link at the top of this post. What serial number codes are on the engine and on the vehicle?

OK, I deleted them for Gerry's sake even though I think the mystery has been solved. I'm interested to hear if either or both numbers are still on the truck.
