You are more likely to find a 270 than a 302 in Military configuration as noted. The M135 and M211s were not produced in anywhere near the numbers of the CCKW. Best number I could find was less than 80,000 trucks, compared to 560,000 CCKWs.
Plus the M44 chassis (the M35 series) but the nail in the coffin of the M211/M135 so they were quickly given away as Military aid to our allies (aka left in Korea/Vietnam)
If you can find a military 302 you'll be able to tell your friends that your motor is capable of underwater operation (with the proper snorkels). That's the reason the block was never cut for a fuel pump... its completely sealed.
