I used an 1157 socket with a flange along the top edge. I drilled out the old small single filament lamp socket. I epoxied the lamp socket in place. I thought about solder but had already finished painted the headlight bucket. I then soldered a ground lead on the back side of the socket. I separately grounded all lights on my truck. Then the rear lights I used the same socket but made a brass bar to mount the socket. I soldered the socket into the brass bar. The tail light is bonded with a ground wire to the mounting bolt. The 6V 1154 lamp is about equal to 12V modern brightness. Much better for a tail and brake light. And yes I added turn signals. I made a post in the electrical section on this also. I hope that helps.
