I have a 1948 chev. 1 ton but i think that the rear end has been changed. My chev manual said that the # stamped on the out side will tell you if 1/2 - 3/4 - 1 ton ect. It said on the right side tells us that it is a 1/2 ton. On top it would be 3/4 and 1 ton. The number is on the right side and the # is 8698535. I think that it would make it a 4:11 and not a 4:57.

What I am trying to do is change the ring and pinion to get my rpms down when going to shows. Jim Carter has one that they say will work for the 4:11 taking it to 3:55. Other then that I would put in a gear vender. Much Much cheaper to do the ring and pinion. Thank you for any input.
