I can find no number stamped on TOP of the frame in the engine bay but 2443630 8 17 77 76, spaced as shown, is stamped on the frame side below the driver side door. What exactly is this number?
That's the frame number, merely a sequencial number that was stamped on the frame. My truck has the partial serial number stamped on the frame under the hood, and the frame number under the cab, and there is no correlation between the two numbers.
Here's a link to a photo of my partial VIN, should help you to locate it on yours, it's just ahead of the grounding strap, near the upper a-arm attachment bolts to the frame:

I think that's kind of neat... but based on the gauge cluster that was in my '65 C10, it did not have the "tandem axle" or "overspeed".
Sounds like you have a "big bolt" cluster or cab. Does the cab have the marker lights up on the roof?
You might also have a K10 SWB frame that was converted to a 2wd?
