The factory recommended around 2 degrees of caster. The only way to know if your axle and springs give you that caster with out shims is to measure it.
Caster is the amount that the top of the kingpin is tipped back beyond vertical. It is necessary to keep the truck from wandering and to make the steering self centering.
FYI that number is for bias ply tires, most people find 4 degrees is necessary with radial tires.
