Happy New Year everyone!! I picked up a 1946 216 that I'm going to rebuild and put in my 41 pickup. The engine had been sitting in a friends barn for years. He bought it for a spare but never needed it. It's missing the Rockers and side cover plate. Would I be able to use those parts from my 1940 engine that was in my truck? His oil pan was bad from sitting on the barn floor so I was hopping to swap mine over too the 46 also.

I've taken the engine down to the block and checked mains and Rod bearings. They are all between .0015 and .002 using plastigage. I've honed the cylinders and they look good and measure standard. I've pulled the cam and it looks good also. I don't believe it has many miles on it. My question, is there any tricks, special procedures or things I need to look for as I put this engine back together? I've worked on the Ford 4 bangers but this is my first Chevy Rebuild.
