I took the U joint out of a 3/4 ton with a 4 speed, had a machine shop machine out the rear part of it and also the rear part out of a 3 spd U-joint. They then welded the output spline in the 3/4 ton joint. Heavier joint than the 1/2 ton set up. Draw back..... No way to separate the u-joint a part like the 1/2 ton joint, so you need to pull the rear end back to remove the torque tube from the rear of the transmission....
