I took my original 1940 3/4ton KE special out for a drive on Xmas eve and had my first roadside breakdown. It was driving well until it started to cut out (almost like a miss) and stated sputtering...I pulled over and it died on me then I had it towed home.

When I take the wire off the spark plug I cant seem to see any spark. I tried two used coils and an N.O.S. coil and none of them worked. I was playing around with a voltage tester and I started checking for power, what we found is I'm not getting power through the coil..we're getting power to the top of the top of the coil from the ignition switch when we bypass the coil form the ignition switch to the distributor the(tester doesn't seem to register any power going through the coil) I also cleaned and adjusted the points...truck turns over but doesn't run. What should I be testing and How do you test to see if a coil works??
