Sounds like the starter/solinoid are on their way out. Time to replace them. Later when I have nothing better to do (when will that be?) I'll take the old one apart just to get familiar with what it's made up of and maybe rebuild it. It can go on the spare parts shelf either repaired or waiting to be.
