Not totally sure why it's painted the incorrect color, originally it would have been close to the new valve cover color. When I adjusted the valves I got carried away cleaning the valve cover and ended up painting it.
On a PCV engine there are no vents in the valve cover. The manifold draws the lower engine vapor out and clean filtered air is pulled into the upper engine through a hose from the air cleaner to the valve cover, hence the name "positive crankcase ventilation". The picture is my other 261 I installed in my 1954 1 ton dually stake.
