I've got a filter on my 216, it was on it when I got it so I continue to use it.
I understand that it's a bypass filter and as Dave says it probably doesn't filter except when at idle but since I'm useing detergent oil I like that theres "some" filtering going on.
I also like that it adds another qrt of oil to the engine which is good in my case as I haven't gotten around to replaceing all the worn & leaky seals yet
