Lots of work on Brad's part ... pure enjoyment (and references) for you!
| | THANKS!
For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 19 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Apr 2013 Posts: 19 | Just pulled my 56 235 sump to clean it out. Thought i would take the opportunity to check out the big ends. A couple of them are grooved and the front 2 are showing the copper. I prefer not to pull and regrind the crank although i know it is probably best. So looking to just fit a new set of bearings and rebuild the oil pump if this would buy the motor another 10 or 20k miles? Issue is I dont have a mic here the right size to measure the bearings.
There is a mix of bearings which is odd probably not a good sign either.
5 are marked It looks like AB 51 possibly UAB 6950 cap 7- 35. E 9 - 35 DA-49
The number 2 rod had a Clevite bearing 77 12 88. (I guess week 12 1988) CB416P AA
I cant see STD or 0.10. 0.20 or anything stamped on any of them to signify the size.
Does this mean i have std size journals?
Cheers guys Richard | | |
