| | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | By not having grease in the recess can cause wear, and maybe binding, on the transmission front bearing retainer it slides on. If you can spread any amount of lube on the retainer where the bearing slides you will be OK.
Even if the retainer becomes worn it is no big deal, they are readily available.
