It is more than just a hole. The edges are rolled inward. Your best bet is to find a donor at a junk yard and cut out the section that you need and cut out your mess and weld in the new piece. I have done this twice and it wasn't too difficult.
I just now noticed that you are in England (you don't type funny like y'all talk, LOL). I am guessing that you don't have a lot of donors there. You might post in the parts wanted section.
