I've got a 55 series II with a four speed. It's all original but I'm afraid the 235 is getting tired because it's noisy above 2500 rpm and I think it's the rod bearings.
I have found a bellhousing out of a 55 series II that had a 265 in it. The price is reasonable and I have a rebuilt (1979) 350 from another project.
Will this bellhousing work with the 350 or am I limited to finding a 265?
Does it make more sense to go with an automatic?
I don't want a hot rod. I just want reliability.
