If it's from a 62 model, it's probably a 194, not a 230. All of the second-generation 6 cylinder engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern as the V8's. Any manual transmission from the mid-1950's on could be bolted onto the bellhousings that fit those engines, 3, 4, or 5 speeds. That would include the Muncie 3 and 4 speeds, the Saginaw 3 and 4 speeds, and various Borg-Warner 3,4, and 5 speeds with the Chevrolet bolt pattern. Even an SM-420 could bolt up and work.
