I have been toying with the same idea on my pickup. I have not talked to Steve at Buffalo Enterprises, but have been told by several people, including Tom Langdon, to give Steve a call because he may have a solution.
To do what you want to do, you have to have an adapter plate and Steve at Buffalo makes them. It is possible he makes one or can make one with acceptable mounts to "replace" you current belhousing mounts.
