I'm running a Mallory, very pleased with it. I have the old Magnetic Breakerless, which has been replaced with a Unilite version. If you're running a stock coil with a ballast resistor (these are 12 volt distributors), it'll run fine. However, if you're going to run a hotter coil, then you'll want to add a spark control box, such as a 3RLi. Otherwise, it seems that the coil does not get enough power.
