Hy Miss Church, according to my 1958 through 1962 parts book the change in series designation took place in 1958. On the Chevrolet side the change appears to mimic the American models, on the GMC side the change is a little more subtle and they are four digits on the models that have a comparable Canadian Chevrolet counterpart, I could post examples if required, hope that helps.
