Lumbergh your close except that it a 4 cycle motor. You need to be at TDC on the compression stroke. It's usually easier to do it with the valve cover off and watch the valves. After the exhaust has closed (not considering overlap) you are then on intake stroke, then compression stroke. You can pull the sparkplug and put your finger over the sparkplug hole and wait for it be blown off. Turn to the timing mark and put rotor on #1.
