What you say you are connecting looks right. What you describe for your old condenser seems odd.
6v or 12v system (battery)?
1168lsn6 is for a 6v system.
What coil are you using?

12v 235 engine?
The vacuum advance is mechanical and should not be affected by the installation of the Pertronix unit.
There is no need for a ballast voltage reducer in a 12v Pertronix system, if you are using the correct coil. What coil are you you using?
