I probably won't do it but I have been floating the idea of putting a wooden flatbed on my '66. It originally was a longbed stepside but for some unknown and dumb reason the PO took it off and put on some rickety fleetside bed which honestly would be made of nothing but putty if I try to fix it. I plan on putting a stepside back on but until I can find or build one I have been entertaining the idea of making a flatbed. I had a red oak sawed for lumber several years ago for $75 so I won't have much in it and I think it might look ok if I do a good job. Has anyone seen something like this or have any ideas? I have a planer, jointer, tablesaw, router etc so I think I could make something that looks nice but I need some ideas or pictures. Web searches haven't helped much.
