After much assistance from the helpful folks on Stovebolt I had finally started driving my basically stock 1948 AD 1/2 ton to work twice a week when I noticed what appeared to be brake fluid on the inside of the left rear wheel. I checked master cylinder and it was indeed low. I refilled it and drove couple more days to work thinking it was a wheel cylinder and awaited a replacement part to come in the mail. When I finally took off the drum I was very suprised to find a greasy mess everywhere! Went straight to the stovebolt website and started checking forums for information. Based on what I have read it looks like I need to replace the axle seals. I haven't checked yet but I believe the seal in the torque tube is probably shot as well. Based on the comments in the forums you guys have lots of experience dealing with these leaks. When I change out the torque tub seal can a stock replacement be purchased or is the Okie seal the best way to go. I am frustrated because I have my truck up on jack stands and want to tackle this leak issue so I can get it back on the road.
Thanks
