It won't go to waste, use it on such things as fender bolts, door hinge bolts and any place that the bolts are exposed to water. It will keep the rust away from the threads. A tube of #2 would be nice too, its thicker and is good for areas like where the oil pan side gaskets meet the end gaskets. I have never had anything with #2 on it leak, oil or water.
Make sure that you don't get any on the crankshaft to seal wear area, well a pin point size shouldn't hurt a thing, but try to avoid it.
