Sounds like a momentary lean situation. The accelerator pump isn't supplying a enough of a squirt of gas to make up for all the air when the butterfly is opened suddenly.
Make sure the piston seal is OK. Make sure the passage from the bowl to the pump bore is not full of gunk. Make sure the one way ball is free and clean. Make sure all of the linkage is adjusted correctly and not worn. 1/16" slop at each linkage point = 1/4" reduced piston stroke and a fraction of a second late piston movement.
