the HD generator was 55 amps, common alternators are about that, maybe 65 ... the accessories were always run thru the ignition switch, as the fuse panel itself was provided with "switched power" that comes from the ignition switch - the main draws, like headlights, aren't 'switched', they have their own direct source .... what's more relevant is how many electrical accessories you have, and if those items are properly wired and individually fused to avoid overload - the only way the ignition switch might be overloaded is if there's unprotected circuits that fail .... get a fuse panel and pay attention to the factory schematic, make sure all connections are soundly made and tight, and you won't let the smoke out of anything
