Whitelightning, I have restored many 2 cyl John Deeres over the years, and always use thier Classic Green to insure the correct color for the period.
This is practically the same paint you are talking about. Just a little higher at Deere: $50 to $60 gal. It is a Synthetic Enamel and you must use syn. reducer and syn. hardner (cheap) You won't need much reducer, sometimes none, the less the better. Put it on as heavy as possible without runs, and you will have a great, durable shine.(don't forget the hardner). One gallon of green will cover a tractor with about 3 coats.
