Hey brother. So the long bed was open shaft? You could prob use that torque tube you had laying round or get one from Jeff. What engine are you using. If your using a gmc I think it will be to long for a chevy frame as the front mount crossmember on the gmc is further towards the front. I think you want a 49/53 frame as the 47/8 had lever shocks and 54 had a stepped bed or something . 54 beds won't fit a 53 frame and vise verse. If you remember the first gmc you had had a extension that was about a foot long. You just wouldn't have that extension. Does the short frame come with the t.t. And rear end? If so you should be able to just use that. But it uve got a gmc engine I'd try to find a gmc frame. If you can find a half ton long bed you won't need to worry About changing beds .
