North American Parts Company edit: Northwestern Auto parts company
NAPCO provided upfit kits to convert trucks to 4wd. They were also used by Chevy and GMC as a "factory" optioned 4wd starting with the task force and blue chip trucks around 1955. I'm not sure if it was offered by the factory first in 1955 or 1956. I believe 1956 GMC trucks were advertised as having it available.
