Wow I appreciate all of the responses I'm getting! I am definitely leaning on keeping the patina as it actually has a really cool look to it. I like the idea of shooting a coat of clear over it as well. It is the original red with a factory pinstripe around the belt molding and actually does look really cool. I'd imagine a good coat of wax on the existing paint now would make it shine still, but I'm sure a coat of clear would go on nicely without having to use a wax remover.
