I also have a 51 Chevy 3100 frame with a 235 engine. The 235 block casting number is 3769716 and the cylinder head casting number is 3836848. The 235 is bolted up to a 1951 SM420 transmission. The 51 driveshaft is the enclosed variety. Since the 55 Chevy originally came with a 235, I'm seriously considering switching back to the 235. Will the bell housing bolted to the 235 work with the Saginaw transmission or a later model 4 speed? | | |
