I think the 283 was the only V8 available in the '60-66 Chevy 4x4 trucks...no 265's. 327 in '66 2wd trucks, but not the K-Series trucks.
I believe what you say Tony is correct; but those of us who were around then knew that when you said 265 one was referring to 55 and 56 passenger car. trucks di use that mounting from 55-62
