The factory-correct reverse light switches, used on the '60-'66 Chevy trucks with the SM420, were rather fragile and not many survived, so a used one may not happen. I see the original reverse light switches, NOS or used, on eBay, from time-to-time. They are not being reproduced, so we use a case-mounted reverse light switch, with the ball-bearing depresser, in lieu of the pin, found on the factory reverse light switch. This switch was used on the '67 & newer SM420 transmissions. The factory switch-mounting tab, on the base of the shift mast, can be modified, to accept the larger diameter neck & jamb nut, found on the newer switch. The connectors on the factory reverse light switch wires (light green & dark green) must be changed to mate with the terminals on the later switch. This fit-up is substantially stonger, more durable and will stand up, to hitting the reverse gate, when shifting.
