The fuse box should have two feeds of positive 12 volts. Unswitched (hot all the time and switched (hot only when key is in any position other than start or off. Hot all the time will run your lights thru a fuse. The hot all the time feed is usually connected to the battery/ generator terminal on the selenoid or the feed side of your ammeter. Switched power you get off the run position of your key switch. Please be sure to fuse all circuits. The generator or alternator is not fused in the fuse box but rather with a so called fusible link or maxi type fuse in the output wire.
