I moved mine for 2 reasons. I don't like the idea of sitting on 18 gallons of gas or fumes, and I wanted some more space inside the cab for storage. These cabs are quite small and the space under the seat is very useful for other items.
I used a Mustang tank from the 65-69 era. I mounted it sideways and ran the filler hose to the side of the bed.
