well there really oughta be a tech tip on that around here, but I guess nobodies written one yet!
I can give you a start, but there'll be specifics you need to work out - need to replace all light bulbs w/ 12v, get a 12v generator and regulator, or an alternator, a 12v coil, and either put dropping resistors on some gauges [ammeter and fuel at least] and the heater fan motor, or replace same w/ 12v items - starter can be left as is, and the original wires [if in good shape] will be fine w/ 12v
while you're chewing on that, someone else who's done it will come along and expand on it - I never bothered, just switched my 46 to a 6v alternator, and never had any problems w/ the 6v thereafter
