Wetwilly, you could figure the torque required to run at what ever speed and road conditions, GVW etc. And calculate the required ratio to accomplish that.
Problem is the best way to figure out that loading at first would be to use a dynamometer. Or compair torque required of a known vehicle and its specs. I guess I'm not being to clear.
