I would definitely hold out for a truck with full air brakes. Those old hydraulic brake trucks usually have a pair of wheel cylinders at each wheel, which can get expensive to have safe reliable brakes. Air is much simpler. I have a 52 GMC with air over hydraulic, I am changing it over to full air as part of the whole vehicle rebuild process.
